The Jewelry History Series Returns with a Special Opportunity for Conference Attendees
MIAMI (Oct. 13, 2015) – U.S. Antique Shows recently announced that they will be hosting the Third Annual Jewelry History Series prior to the start of The Original Miami Beach Antique Show on Jan. 28. The jewelry conference, Jan. 26-27, will consist of educational sessions from notable jewelry speakers as well as a special screening of the award-winning documentary, Sharing The Rough.
The documentary captures the never before seen process of mine to market in the fine gem industry including the relationships and passion that make jewelry more than just pretty stones. At the conclusion of Day One, series attendees will take a trip to the local movie theater, Cinematheque, for a private screening of the film followed by a Q&A with Director Orin Mazzoni.
“Sharing The Rough is a story that weaves together all aspects of the love of jewelry and the process of mine to market. The beauty of this film is that everything you see is 100 percent organic and in true documentary style. There was no script,” says Mazzoni. “Jewelry and gems have been a part of my life since I was a young boy. My grandfather was a watchmaker and my father owns two jewelry retail stores in which I worked for ten years as a graduate gemologist and certified gemologist appraiser. It gives me great pride to be able to share my passion of both film and jewelry with attendees of the Jewelry History Series.”
The conference is open to retailers, wholesalers, appraisers, seasoned and novice collectors, as well as anyone with an interest in learning about the history of antique jewelry.
“For a third year, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to host exceptional events at our premier show and the Jewelry History Series is our pinnacle conference. It brings together a phenomenal group of jewelry historians, dealers and graduate gemologists that have spoken at several events and curated museum exhibits across the nation. This year, we have increased the number of speakers on Day Two to provide attendees with even more valuable information,” says Dan Darby, Emerald Expositions vice president and U.S. Antique Shows general manager.
Both days of the conference attendees will enjoy a continental breakfast sponsored by Skinner, Inc. and Day Two will close with a networking reception sponsored by one of the shows preeminent jewelry dealers, Lenore Dailey. Food and drinks will be served.
The list of speakers scheduled for this year’s series include:
- Patricia Faber, The Next Wave: Collecting Studio Art Jewelry 1970-1990
